Gianfranco Battisti, the CEO of
Italian rail company FS, said Tuesday that a new high-speed
Freccia Rossa train service connecting Rome Fiumicino airport to
Venice will start with the arrival of the network's winter
timetable.
He said a similar service connecting Milan's Malpensa airport
should kick off next year.
"We are highly confident that Malpensa can become another
transport opportunity that we will develop with the Frecce
(trains) in 2019," said Battisti.
He said the aim was to create "a great integrated transport
network" connecting Italy's "stations, airports and ports".
