Italian unions on Tuesday threatened
a 48-hour strike in the run-up to the June 8-9 European
elections.
Reporting 100% turnout for Tuesday's strike in Rome, Milan, and
other cities, they said "on Monday we will have a meeting with a
government representative, if the talks are not positive, given
the technical time frame, we are ready to strike again for 48
hours, close to the European elections".
Italy's taxi drivers are protesting the deregulation of the
sector and the granting of many new licenses.
