Eni oil production in the Val
d'Agri area of Basilicata could be hit after Carabinieri police
conducted seizures at a plant at Viggiano, near Potenza, in
relation to a criminal probe into alleged illegal trafficking
and disposal of waste, ANSA sources said on Thursday. The
Italian energy giant said it was cooperating with investigators
and that its legal experts were analysing the situation, but
added that it will not make any comments until the picture is
clear. Another seizure was conducted at the Tecnoparco plant at
Pisticci, near Matera, in relation to the probe by anti-mafia
investigators that led to the five Eni employees being put under
house arrest on Thursday. Furthermore, a region of Basilicata
manager was banned from staying in a municipality due to the
probe.
