Rail unions have called a strike for
the weekend of October 12-13 and there may be major disruption
and cancellations, Ferrovie dello Stato (FS) rail company said
Friday.
The strike by grass-roots unions will last from 21:00 Saturday
to the same time Sunday evening.
The strike, FS said, "could have a significant impact on rail
traffic and lead to total and partial cancellations of Frecce
(high-speed), Intercity and Trenitalia Regional trains.
"The effects, in terms of cancellations and delays, could also
occur before and continue beyond the end time of the union
protest.
"Trenitalia, taking into account the possible significant
repercussions on the service, invites passengers to inform
themselves before going to the station and, where possible, to
reschedule their journey."
