Italian Serie A and B soccer
players will raise banners demanding the truth about Giulio
Regeni's torture and murder in Cairo on the weekend of April
23-25, the chair of the Senate human rights committee, Luigi
Manconi, said Wednesday.
Banners will also be displayed by the public, he said.
The initiative, he said, was requested by his panel, by
Amnesty International and prisoners' rights association Antigone
to make sure "silence does not fall on the atrocious end of our
countryman in Egypt".
