A man killed his disabled son in his sleep overnight and then attempted suicide in the town of Vespolate, in the northern province of Novara, sources said Tuesday.
According to an initial reconstruction of events, the father was afraid of about what would happen to his son after he died.
The man, aged 50, is now in hospital in Novara in a
critical condition, having tried to gas himself to death, the
sources said.
He is said to have suffocated the son.
The father looked after the son alone as his wife died of
cancer a year and a half ago.
