A fire at an ENI refinery near
Pavia Thursday caused no significant pollution, environmental
agency ARPA said Friday.
The fire, which sent smoke billowing across the area, was
caused by an explosion at refinery at Sannazzaro de' Burgondi,
one of ENI's biggest in Italy.
Local authorities urged people to stay at home because of the
fumes generated.
Only one person was hurt, a worker who injured his knee while
fleeing the scene.
ENI told ANSA that output at the plant would remain
unaffected because the production of the fire-hit section would
be switched to other parts of the facility.
