Brescia postal police on Monday
said a 25-year-old Italian man has been formally placed under
investigation for hacking NASA sites in 2013 and using a number
of failures in the system of Italy's space agency ASI to replace
its home page.
The young man, who is unemployed and lives in the northern
town of Salò, has admitted his role in the hackings, said the
investigators, who are coordinated by the state attorney's
office in Brescia.
The young man is charged with hacking eight domains of the US
space agency and replacing the homepage of the Italian space
agency.
The 25-year-old has previously claimed responsibility for the
hackings on social media, alleging that he belongs to the
'Master Italian hacker team', a community that has claimed
responsibility for various attacks on institutional sites.
