A 20-year-old Egyptian man
tried to rape a 50-year-old Italian woman in a car park in the
centre of Grosseto in southern Tuscany at dawn on Thursday,
local sources said Friday.
The man pushed the woman to the floor, punched her and tried
to rape her but the woman wriggled away, defended herself and
saw him off, police said.
She called the police who caught the man soon after.
The woman suffered a fracture to her face and is in hospital
awaiting surgery.
The Egyptian, a regular immigrant, works in the city.
