Deputy Premier and Interior Minister
Matteo Salvini said Wednesday that 17 people have been reported
to prosecutors over recent protests against a Roma family being
assigned a council flat in Rome's Casal Bruciato district.
The family was subjected to intimidation during the protests
by local people and members of the far-right CasaPound group
and, in one incident, a woman was threatened with rape.
"The police are working to guarantee the rights of the people
who have been threatened and prevent disorder," League leader
Salvini told a question time session in the Lower House.
"No form of violence will be tolerated".
