President Sergio Mattarella on
Monday called for real peace in Ukraine and in the Middle East
during celebrations for the 164th anniversary of the Day of
National Unity, the Constitution, the anthem and the flag in
Rome.
"The anniversary of March 17 urges each citizen to commit to
implementing in an increasingly effective manner the Republic's
ideals of freedom and justice, dealing with the challenges to
make concrete peace in an international context where aggressive
drives have prevailed, in Ukraine as in the Middle East", the
president said.
Mattarella also noted that National Unity Day reminded everyone
about the "values on which our community is founded and the
aspirations enlivening it for the construction of an
increasingly cohesive and inclusive society that knows how to
look at tomorrow with confidence, within the European horizon".
