The State Attorney's Office in Rome
is investigating the collapse of a B&B in the Monteverde
district on Sunday caused by an explosion in the building in
which a 54-year-old Scottish tourist was critically injured.
Investigators coordinated by prosecutor Giovanni Conzo have
opened a probe against unknown persons for culpable injuries and
culpable disaster, investigative sources said on Monday.
Carabinieri police of the Trastevere Company have questioned a
number of witnesses, including the owner of the B&B, to
investigate the cause of the blast, the sources said.
The tourist of Scottish origin, who has not been named, was said
to have burns on 70% of his body.
After the incident on Sunday, anti-mafia writer Roberto Saviano
responded to reports that he had been in the building by
reassuring fans that he moved out a few days ago.
