An ongoing renovation of the Colosseum has uncovered a series of numbers in red paint, sources said Wednesday.
The numbers were painted on the arches to indicate the various sections of the elliptical concrete and stone amphitheater, much as modern-day stadiums number their stands. The world-famous monument built in the Italian capital between 70-80 AD has been undergoing a 25-million-euro renovation courtesy of shoe giant Tod's since 2013.
