The Venice council executive has
approved the trial of a 5-euro ticket to enter the Lagoon city
next year as part of efforts to stop it being constantly
inundated by tourists.
The trial will be done on 30 days in 2024 when the number of
visitors to the city is expected to be especially high, such as
national holidays and weekends in spring and summer.
Residents, commuters, students, children under 14, people
staying in the city overnight and people visiting for sporting
event swould be exempt from having to buy the ticket.
The city council is set to vote on the proposal by the executive
on September 12.
