The number of Colombian students choosing Italian universities is growing every year. The figures were released by the Italian Ambassador in Bogotá, Giancarlo Maria Curcio, on the occasion of the fifth edition of Aula Italia, the largest Italian studies fair in Latin America.
The diplomat pointed out that two months before the end of the year, 521 study visas have already been issued, anticipating that by the end of 2024 the quota should stand at 700. "An ambitious number, which we feel is an excellent result. But I am sure, thanks to our commitment, we will reach three zeros,' said the ambassador, encouraging Colombians who want to come and study in Italy.
As in 2023, this year Aula Italia was held in Medellín, Cali, and Bogotá, registering an increase in attendance. In Medellín 550 people attended with 3,320 enrolled, in Cali 410 with 2,470 enrolled, while the event in Bogotá saw the pre-registration of eight thousand people with a high flow of entries.
Angelo Gobbo, executive director of the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Colombia, pointed out that from the first edition to date, the number of Italian entities at Aula Italia has been growing. "2017 started with nine Italian exhibitors, the second year there were 15, then 20, then 25 and this year we have reached 30," he pointed out.
Among the universities present at Aula Italia are the University of Rome La Sapienza, the Milan Fashion Institute, the University of Parma and the University of Pisa, among others.
