Economic and cultural cooperation between Italy and Croatia, but also support for Ukraine, the upcoming presidential elections, and health and education problems in the Balkan country were the focus of a meeting between the Italian Ambassador to Croatia, Paolo Trichilo, and the President of the Parliamentary Commission for Health, Ivana Kekin, a candidate for the presidency of the Republic of Croatia. Both stressed the importance of providing assistance to Ukraine, in particular through Croatia's experience in the patriotic war, such as demining and prosecution of war crimes.
They also discussed the upcoming presidential elections, focusing on the need to motivate young voters and involve them in democratic processes. The key topic of the meeting was then the situation of the health system in Croatia. Kekin expressed concern about the gradual privatisation of health care and stressed that every person should have access to public health services, quality education and affordable housing. Mr. Kekin and Mr. Trichilo expressed mutual satisfaction with the long-standing economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries and concluded the meeting with the willingness to further strengthen relations between Croatia and Italy in key areas of common interest.
