The celebrations in Georgia of the Ninth Week of Italian Cuisine opened yesterday, 17 November, with a special event, a real party, crowded and full of emotion and passion for Italian cuisine. "After the stages dedicated to art and education of the Campania Region's promotional event in Georgia, organised by the Italian Embassy in Tbilisi, it was decided to celebrate the Week under the banner of Campania cuisine, paying homage to the extraordinary richness of Campania's cuisine, one of the richest and most varied in Italy," explained Ambassador Massimiliano D'Antuono.
The opening event of the Week, organised by our Embassy in collaboration with Ice-Ita and dedicated to pizza, a true symbol of Italian cuisine, and to the traditional art of the Neapolitan pizza maker, the eighth Italian recognition in the list of Unesco's Intangible Heritage, was held in the multifunctional space of Expo Georgia and included a masterclass on the preparation of pizza dough with the participation of representatives of Molino Casillo, a leading company in the production and marketing of flour, a competition between professionals from some Italian pizzerias present in the Georgian capital, and a tasting of pizza prepared in all its flavours and versions.
