The Embassy of Italy in Bahrain joins the international mobilisation campaign on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women by installing a red bench in the garden of the Representation.
"As indicated by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Antonio Tajani, Italy must be at the forefront to promote gender equality and women's empowerment, especially to prevent and combat all forms of discrimination and violence against women," commented the Italian Ambassador to Bahrain, Andrea Catalano, on the occasion of the international day.
"The issue is of central importance for Italy and it is no coincidence that it will be brought to the G7 Foreign Ministerial in Fiuggi-Anagni, where a 'red bench' will also be inaugurated during the meeting in memory of all women, daughters, mothers, sisters, friends, or even simple acquaintances, victims of violence and their lives lost. In full adherence to this campaign, together with the entire embassy staff, we have therefore also placed a red bench in the garden of our chancellery, as an indelible reminder of the empty place left in society by each and every woman victim of feminicide, as well as our support for the fight against violence but also against simple discrimination,' Ambassador Catalano concluded.
