The Embassy of Italy in Ukraine participated in the inauguration ceremony of the Master's Degree Course in Public Procurement Management jointly provided by the University of Rome Tor Vergata and the Ukrainian National University of Economics and Business (Sute) in Kiev. The master's degree, generously financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Investment Bank, will train 30 representatives of Ukrainian contracting authorities each year, with a view to managing the international resources channelled into the reconstruction of the country.
"We are particularly proud that the expertise of a university centre of excellence such as Roma Tor Vergata will be useful in strengthening the capacities of Ukraine's government, local authorities and public enterprises to develop efficient procurement and implement reconstruction projects financed by international donors," Ambassador Carlo Formosa said in his message. "Strongly functioning public institutions and a determined fight against corruption are essential elements to maintain and nurture the trust of partners in supporting Ukraine. Next year, Italy will play a primary role in boosting international support for Kiev, as we will host the Reconstruction Conference in Rome on 10 and 11 July 2025: a catalyst event for public and private resources in favour of recovery," he added.
Students in this first edition of the master's programme include officials from the Ministries of Economy and Infrastructure, regions and municipalities, as well as managers of public enterprises in the energy, railway and postal sectors.
