Italy is poised to kick-start job
creation in the European economy with "innovative measures" when
Rome takes over the revolving EU presidency in July, Economy
Minister Pier Carlo Padoan said Wednesday.
"Europe is at a crossroads between a sputtering growth and
a different speed of recovery," Padoan said. "The difference is
in the hands of European policymakers and in particular of the
Italian government".
Padoan said he is "convinced" that Italy's EU presidency
"will know how to create a turning point" in the European
economy.
"I received many congratulations (from European partners)
and much openness to Italy's proposals to make growth and
employment central through innovative measures and with a
reconsideration of the general picture," Padoan told reporters
while commenting on the resounding victory for Premier Matteo
Renzi's Democratic Party in European elections last week-end.
