Rome Mayor Ignazio Marino said
Monday he might make the Circus Maximus and the Palatine hill
pedestrian-only. The mayor spoke hours after an extended ban on
cars, trucks and scooters in more streets in Rome's historic
centre took effect. The ban extends a pedestrian zone put in
place in August affecting 15 small streets around the Spanish
Steps. The city last year strictly limited traffic along the Via
dei Fori Imperiali, connecting the iconic Colosseum with Piazza
Venezia and running through the Roman Forum.
