The ruling Democratic Party (PD)
is to use a so-called 'kangaroo' amendment, quashing all similar
amendments, in debate over a civil-unions bill that resumes in
the Senate Tuesday, PD Senate Whip Luigi Zanda said Monday.
"It's on the agenda and I don't see how we couldn't vote on it,"
he said. The kangaroo aims to get round a slew of amendments to
the bill, whose stepchild adoption provision is being stiffly
resisted by conservative Catholics.
