The Milan appeal court found
Silvio Berlusconi's son, Pier Silvio Berlusconi, and Mediaset
Chairman Fedele Confalonieri guilty of fraud at the Mediatrade
subsidiary of the broadcasting giant and sentenced them both to
14 months in prison on Thursday.
The other defendants in the trial were acquitted.
In the first-instance trial in July 2014, the pair were
both acquitted along with the other defendants.
Prosecutors had asked for a sentence of three years, two
months for Pier Silvio Berlusconi and of three years, four
months for Confalonieri.
The pair were convicted of fraud in the purchase of film
rights by Mediaset.
Jail terms of such short length are usually suspended in
Italy.
Three-time premier Silvio Berlusconi was initially also
implicated in the Mediatrade case but his position was shelved
in 2011 due to lack of evidence.
