Interior Minister Matteo
Salvini said Tuesday "Juncker? the Italian budget has passed.
Let him like it or lump it, and drink some coffee".
The deputy premier was responding to the European Commission
chief's earlier assertion that other member States would be
irked if the EC let Italy off lightly on its 2.4% deficit-to-GDP
ratio in next year's budget.
Juncker said the EC could not allow Italy's "slippage" from
budget orthodoxy.
Salvini replied "the slippages have arrived in these years
from Europe which has brought precariousness and insecurity to
an entire continent".
