The education ministry on
Thursday gave its approval to installing crucifixes and nativity
scenes in all Italian classrooms.
"The Crucifix is for me the symbol of our history, our
culture, our traditions: I don't see how it can cause any
irritation in our school rooms, on the contrary it may help kids
to reflect," said Education Minister Marco Bussetti.
Likewise for nativity scenes, or 'presepi', Bussetti said he
was in favour of setting them up in schools at Christmas because
"they are part of our identity".
