Italy's double world champion
Francesco Bagnaia won the Malaysian Grand Prix on Sunday to keep
his slender hopes of winning this year's MotoGP title alive.
The Ducati factory rider cut the lead of Spain's Jorge Martin,
who came second, to 24 points, meaning the title will be decided
at the last race weekend of the season in two weeks time.
Bagnaia's hopes of retaining his title suffered a big blow on
Saturday when he crashed out of the sprint race and Pramac
Ducati's Martin took advantage, triumphing to extend his lead to
29 points for one night.
The final race weekend, when 37 points will be up for grabs with
the sprint and the main event Grand Prix, is expected to be held
in Barcelona after organizers decided not to stage the race in
Valencia following last week's devastating deadly floods there.
