Vatican Secretary of State
Pietro Parolin said Tuesday that dialogue was "still open" with
the French government over Laurent Stefanini, the person Paris
had nominated to be its next ambassador to the Holy See.
According to media reports, the Vatican has not accepted
Stefanini's credentials so far because he is gay. "The dialogue
is still open and we hope that the question can reach a positive
conclusion," Parolin said on the fringes of a ceremony.
