The Catholic Church's
extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, which started last month, has so
far drawn almost 1.4 million people to Rome, Monsignor Rino
Fisichella, the coordinator of the Holy Year, said on Friday.
"According to data that we can verify on a daily basis, up
to no 1,392,000 people have participated in Jubilee events (in
Rome)," Fisichella, said.
"An interesting figure is that 40% come from abroad,
especially speakers of Spanish and French.
"We have registered pilgrims from Bangladesh, Hong Kong,
Korea, Kenya, Mozambique, El Salvador, New Zealand, Argentina,
Mexico, Fiji, Russia, Belarus, the Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Ivory
Coast, Chad, Kuwait, the United States and Albania"
