Pope Francis on Wednesday told
Catholic priests to keep their homilies short so that the
faithful didn't fall asleep, setting an eight-minute limit for
non sleep-inducing sermons.
Speaking at his weekly general audience in St Peter's Square,
Francis said "the homily must be short: an image, a thought, a
feeling.
"A homily mustn't go over eight minutes because after that
amount of time people lose attention and fall asleep, and
they're right".
Francis concluded: "Priests sometimes talk a lot and you can's
understand what they're talking about".
