"This operation is causing debate
among the opposition, but it appears to me that the agreement
between Italy and Albania was also held up as a model by the
President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who
stated in a letter to the commissioners that it must be taken as
a positive example to address the migrant issue," said Italian
Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani.
"Remember that all of the centres are managed by Italian
authorities. As a result, it is an investment in combating
illegal immigration and human trafficking, as well as returning
those who have no legal right to be in Italy. It is a concrete,
courageous decision that has garnered support throughout the
European Union."
