Titled specchi di confine/Zrcala
Meje, the new festival, running from July 25 to August 3,
explores the concept of boundaries in an area where two cities
observe, reflect, and recognize each other. This project is part
of Go!2025 - Gorizia Nova Gorica European Capital of Culture.
Without boundaries, even in its organization, the festival
results from a joint effort by Circolo Controtempo from Cormòns
and Slovenian partner Kud Morgan, in collaboration with Goriški
Muzej.
It will feature music, art, books, writers, meetings, and
experiences showcasing the culinary and wine excellence of the
Collio/Brda region. It will also intertwine with the sixth
edition of the Musiche dal mondo/Glasbe Sveta festival, which
will bring prominent international music names to Villa de
Nordis in Gorizia and Kromberk Castle in Nova Gorica.
Among them are French guitarist Biréli Lagrène (July 27,
Gorizia), the "Saharan blues" star Bombino (August 1, Nova
Gorica), Cuban composer, cellist, and singer Ana Carla Maza
(July 25, Gorizia), the Vienna Vegetable Orchestra (July 26,
Gorizia), the duo of contemporary oud king Dhafer Youssef and
Norwegian jazz guitarist Eivind Aarset (July 30, Nova Gorica),
and Richard Galliano with a concert dedicated to Gershwin
(August 3, Nova Gorica).
Norman Beaker, a prominent figure in the British blues scene
for 40 years, will perform at the preview on July 13 in Lokve.
The participating writers, all speaking at 6 PM at the Ex
Ferramenta Krainer in Gorizia and all sharing a sensitivity to
the theme of boundaries, will be Alessandro Canella (July 25),
Michele Obit (July 26) in dialogue with Maurizio Mattiuzza, then
Stefano Montello (July 27) and Anna Cecchini (July 28). On
Saturday, July 13, the entire day will be dedicated to the
preview event "Festival Beer & Blues" in the small town of
Lokve, a fraction of Nova Gorica.
