According to data from the
Confcommercio Tourism Observatory with Swg, 8.5 million Italians
are prepared to travel for the Christmas holidays, mostly
choosing national destinations. One in every three Italians
prefers to spend their holidays in the mountains. Cities of art
and large cities and villages account for another 32% of overall
preferences, while coastal locations, chosen primarily by those
who limit their travel to the borders of their region, account
for another 21%. Lazio, Trentino Alto Adige, Campania, and
Lombardy are among the most popular destinations in Italy, while
France, Germany, England, and Austria are the most popular
countries abroad.
