(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 9 - Premier Giorgia Meloni and European
Commission President Ursula von der Leyen discussed the economy
and migrants in view of the February 9-10 European Council at
the premier's office in Rome Monday, the office said in a
statement.
Meloni reaffirmed the Italian government's commitments on the
EU-funded National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), the
office said.
The NRRP seeks to make the Italian economy Greener and more
modern with the help of almost 200 billion euros in EU grants
and low-interest loans.
Meloni has been calling for the plan to be revised in view of
the changes in the situation caused by the war in Ukraine.
Sources said before the two leaders met that aid for business
and the management of migrant flows would also be likely topics
of conversation.
Italy has been trying to get more help from other EU countries
as it bears the brunt of migration across the central
Mediterranean. (ANSA).
