(ANSA) - Vatican City, March 11 - Pope Francis will wash
male and female inmates' feet at a pre-Easter ceremony at Rome's
Rebibbia prison on Holy Thursday, the Vatican said Wednesday.
Two years ago Francis washed the feet of juvenile offenders
including Muslim girls.
The Pope will travel to the prison on April 2, which is
Holy Thursday that leads up to Easter Sunday in the Catholic
Church calendar.
There, he will meet inmates and celebrate the "Coena
Domini" Mass, which commemorates the Last Supper of Jesus with
His disciples the night before His crucifixion.
The Holy Thursday Mass also marks the commandment of love,
demonstrated when Jesus washed the feet of His disciples.
