(ANSA) - Milan, December 17 - Fiat Group on Tuesday announced 55,600 vehicle registrations in Europe in November, down 5.8% over the same month last year. Total European market share was 5.7%, down 0.4% compared to November 2012. Fiat Group reported that continuing sales contraction in its home market of Italy heavily penalized the results. Unit sales in Italy fell by 4.5% in November compared to the previous year. In contrast, Fiat Group said it outperformed the general automotive market in France, Spain and the United Kingdom. Fiat unit sales in the United Kingdom soared by 45.8% in November compared to the same month last year, far outpacing the broader market's volume growth of 15.1%. In Spain, market volume picked up by 15.1% in November, whereas unit sales for Fiat leapt 19.8%. In France, automotive market volume slid 4%, but Fiat unit sales grew 0.6% in November. For the first eleven months of the year, unit sales grew by 13.3% and 11.7% in Spain and the UK, respectively. Fiat's market share was 3.8% in Spain and 3.2% in the UK. Fiat registered a global total of more than 688,600 vehicles in the first eleven months of the year, slipping 0.3% from the same period last year.
