(ANSA) - Rome, December 17 - Champions Juventus are five points clear at the top of Serie A after second-placed AS Roma dropped points when they were held 2-2 at struggling AC Milan on Monday. Juve, who thrashed Sassuolo 4-0 on Sunday, have 43 points from 16 games. Roma have 38 points, while Milan are 24 points off the pace in 10th place. But despite losing ground, Roma had cause to celebrate as their inspirational captain Francesco Totti came on as a second-half substitute to return from an eight-week layoff with a thigh injury. "There's nothing negative about earning a point in Milan," said Roma coach Rudi Garcia. "As far as our game went, we weren't disappointed at all. Everyone saw us give an impressive performance. "Totti still doesn't have a full 90 minutes in his legs. I chose to divide the game between (fellow forward Mattia) Destro and Totti. It's good news that Francesco is back. "We're even stronger with him". Destro put Roma ahead with an early goal but Cristian Zapata levelled for Milan in 29th minute with a header. Kevin Strootman restored Roma's lead shortly after the break with a penalty, but Sulley Muntari fired home in the 77th minute to earn Milan a share of the spoils.
