(ANSA) - Rome, December 17 - The end section reserved for hardcore Roma soccer fans at Rome's Olympic Stadium will be closed during their next home match, and both end sections will be closed at the following one, a sporting judge ruled Tuesday in response to racist booing against Milan striker Mario Balotelli on Monday. The move was the latest punishment handed down as part of a tough new regime to stamp out racism in Italian soccer, where Balotelli, born to Ghanaian parents, has been a frequent target. Roma must also pay a 50,000-euro fine. Their next home match is against Catania, and their following match is against Genoa. Sporting judges on Tuesday also fined Inter 50,000 euros and ruled to close their end section for hardcore fans who sang chants of "regional discrimination" against Neapolitans Monday during a match against Napoli.
