(ANSA) - Vatican City, December 18 - Pope Francis called his predecessor Benedict XVI with Christmas greetings, the Vatican press office said Wednesday. Francis telephoned Benedict on Tuesday, said Father Federico Lombardi. The two exchanged greetings and best wishes for the season. Benedict shocked the world in February when he resigned as pope, opening the way for the election of Pope Francis.
