(ANSA) - Rome, December 18 - After conquering top prizes at the 26th European Film awards, the European equivalent of the Oscars, Paolo Sorrentino's The Great Beauty has been nominated for other leading awards in Britain and the United States. The Critics' Circle Film Awards in London nominated Sorrentino's movie for best foreign picture, best film and best filmmaker - the only feature film not in English to be nominated in these categories. It is also running as best foreign-language film for the Critics' Choice Movie Awards, whose candidates were announced in Santa Monica by the Broadcast Film Critics Association. The Great Beauty will also compete for a Golden Globe and a Spirit Award, as best international film, and has been selected for a British Independent Film Award. Italy has selected the movie to contend for an Academy Award as best foreign picture.
