(ANSA) - Rome, December 19 - The number of unemployed in Italy jumped by more than one million people between the start of the global economic crisis in 2008 and 2012, the national statistical agency Istat said Thursday. During that period, the number of Italians looking for work rose by approximately 1,052,000, the agency said. The national unemployment rate recently reached a record level of more than 12%, and youth under 25 have been especially hard hit with a jobless rate of over 40%.
