As many as 150mm of rain deluged
the Tuscan city of Pisa Monday during a storm that struck from 4
a.m. to 7 a.m, flooding underpasses, businesses and homes in
districts south of the river Arno and trapping a number of cars,
firefighters said.
The tempest also delayed traffic at Pisa's Galilei
international airport, snarled road traffic along the Arno and
local train services also were delayed, especially to and from
Florence.
Firefighters received hundreds of calls for help while
parts of the Cisanello hospital were flooded.
