Ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi's heart surgery to replace a faulty aortic valve will start at 8 a.m.
Tuesday and last about four hours, Milan's San Raffaele Hospital said Monday.
Leading the operation on the 79-year-old media tycoon will
be San Raffaele chief heart surgeon Ottavio Alfieri, 69.
Berlusconi's personal physician, Alberto Zangrillo, 58, San
Raffaele's top anaesthetist and ICU chief, will be part of the
team.
Three-time premier Berlusconi was admitted to hospital a
week ago with a life-threatening condition caused by the valve.
After the operation, described as routine, the centre-right
Forza Italia leader will be out of the political arena for about
a month.
