Deputy Premier and Interior
Minister Matteo Salvini said Thursday that he was ready to have
talks with French President Emmanuel Macron after Paris recalled
its ambassador to Rome for consultations.
"We don't want to row with anyone and we are not interested
in controversies," League leader Salvini said.
"We are practical people and we defend the interests of the
Italian people.
"Extremely willing to meet President Macron and the French
government, sit around around and discuss three fundamental
issues - no more pushbacks (of migrants at the Italian-French
border), no more Italian terrorists (living freely) in France
and no more harm to our commuters, who are hit every day with
French border checks that last hours".
