Serie A on Monday asked the
government for permission to play games behind closed doors in
the areas affected by the coronavirus emergency.
The president of the Lega calcio di Serie A, Paolo Dal Pino,
wrote to Sports Minister Vincenzo Spadafora, Interior Minister
Luciana Lamorgese and Health Minister Roberto Speranza.
He asked for games not to be suspended but to be played to
empty stadiums in the regions considered at risk.
The reason to do so, Dal Pino explained, was the need to get
through the roster of matches before Euro 2020.
Games were suspended in three regions at the weekend:
Lombardy, which has been most hit, Veneto, and Piedmont.
