Former premier, ex-centre-left
Democratic Party (PD) leader and now centrist Italia Viva (IV)
party leader Matteo Renzi on Monday called for the whole of
Italy to be turned into a red zone against the coronavirus.
"The measures that have been taken have been described as
very tough. But they are not," he said.
"Indeed, I think that much more will be needed in the coming
days.
"The virus is running much faster than out decrees.
"Personally I think that now all of Italy must be considered
a red zone.
"Otherwise we give a contradictory message.
"And that goes for the economic level too.
"The whole country is suffering from the economic collapse,
not just the hotbeds".
