Emilio Fede, a former TV anchorman for Silvio Berlusconi's Mediaset network, on Tuesday confirmed reports that he was arrested in Naples on Monday for breaching the terms of his house arrest.
Fede is serving a four year, seven month term for involvement in bringing prostitutes to parties at the Arcore home near Milan of ex-premier and Forza Italia leader Berlusconi.
"It was terrifying," said Fede. "They came to arrest me as if I were the worst criminal".
The journalist was reportedly arrested while dining with his wife on the seafront in Naples to celebrate his 89th birthday.
He reportedly moved from Milan to Naples before magistrates authorized it.
Sources close to Fede said he notified Carabinieri police in Segrate, near Milan, about the move.
