Three Italian dancers and another
person died in a car crash in Saudi Arabia on Sunday, sources
said Monday.
The victims were named as Antonio Caggianelli from Bisceglie
near Bari in Puglia, Giampiero Giarri from Tivoli near Rome and
Nicolas Esposto, an Agrigento man of French origin.
They were all in their early 30s.
The three were with a 10-strong all-Italian dance troupe in the
Arab country to help inaugurate a theatre.
Sunday was their day off and they decided to go for an excursion
in the desert.
For reasons as yet unknown their vehicles crashed into a gully
and overturned, crushing them to death, along with the unnamed
fourth victim.
Another three people were involved in the accident.
One is in serious condition while the other two were unhurt.
The Italian foreign ministry got in touch with the victims'
families, who flew to Saudi Arabia to identify them.
