Culture Minister Dario Franceschini
stressed the key role culture can play in sustainability during
a recent event at the Expo Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.
"Italy believes deeply in the role of culture as an engine of
inclusive, sustainable development," Franceschini said in a
message to a meeting of the European Capitals of Culture at the
Italy Pavilion, the first time an event of this kind has taken
place outside Europe.
"This concept was reiterated at the G20 meeting of culture
ministers, at which we made central the idea that culture is a
factor of economic and human growth, culture unites the world
and this is even more crucial in the post-pandemic phase".
The Fondazione Matera-Basilicata 2019 organized the meeting of
the European Capitals of Culture at Expo 2020.
The city in Basilicata was European Culture Capital in 2019.
