Premier Mario Draghi will report to
parliament on Friday after Russia launched its attack on
Ukraine, the premier's office said on Thursday.
The Ukraine crisis will also be on the agenda of a cabinet
meeting Draghi will chair on Thursday, a video-conference
meeting of G7 leaders later in the day and a extraordinary
European Council in Brussels in the evening.
The premier will also attend a meeting of the Supreme Defence
Council called by President Sergio Mattarella at the Quirinal
Palace at 16:30.
"The Italian government condemns Russia's attack on Ukraine,"
Draghi said in a statement released early on Thursday.
"It is unjustified and unjustifiable.
"Italy is close to the Ukraine people and institutions at this
dramatic moment.
"We are working with our European and NATO allies to respond
immediately with unity and determination".
