The Liguria regional administrative
court (TAR) on Tuesday rejected an appeal by an Albanian man
against the Savona police department's decision not to renew his
residence permit after he was convicted of drugs offences, even
though he is married with two children, has a regular job and
has lived in Italy for 13 years.
The TAR said that by "committing crimes of significant gravity",
the man had shown that he has "not internalized the essential
laws of civil life" .
The man, whose children are aged four and seven, was given a
three-year jail term for 16 episodes of drug dealing.
The court said that, being as the whole family had Albanian
citizenship, they could return to Albania safety together,
arguing that it was necessary to give priority to ejecting a
dangerous foreigner.
